Cold Sore On Lips
A lip sore is also known as a cold sore
A lip sore is also known as a cold sore. This is quite painful and is very annoying. It commonly occurs around the lip area. Cold sores are caused due to a virus called as the herpes simplex. This virus is contagious however it is not known to cause any deaths. Other disorders such as herpetic whitlow, herpes gladiatorum, ocular herpes (keratitis), cerebral herpes infection encephalitis, Mollaret's meningitis, neonatal herpes, and possibly Bell's palsy are all caused by herpes simplex viruses. Cold sore is contagious, meaning it can be can spread by direct contact such as a kiss, or through contact with an infected towel, toothbrush, food utensils, and any other shared things. It is painful, embarrassing and very frustrating.
Many people acquire the virus as infants, when they are around a large group of other kids. When a person is infected by the virus, it is for life. There are no known cures for oral herpes, however there are many treatments that can prevent, ease and shorten the time of outbreaks. The symptoms look similar to blisters and usually appear near the skin on your lips or mouth. Normally you will experience itchiness, swelling and soreness in a day or two near you lips, and then appears small, red or brown painful blisters. Many individuals carry more benign versions of the cold sore virus and these are more easily suppressed by the immune system. Another factor is the immune system itself. Depending upon a person's genetics, their immune systems can react to viral invaders with varying degrees of severity.
Home remedy can be your best treatment solution to cure your cold sore, because they contain substances that build up immune system in your body to heal from the infection and helping you manage with a lifelong condition. Lips do not have the normal protection that our skin has. Hair, oil and sweat glands are not present in our lips. Oil glands make our skin smooth while sweat glands regulate our body temperature and also help in fighting off bacteria. Basically a cold sore will start with a tingling sensation on your lip. You won't see it, but you'll feel it coming. After a few days of this you'll have a nice looking cold sore on your lip and it will remain like that for another few days.
In order to get rid of such sores you need to be healthy from the inside and thus make sure you keep yourself hydrated. Drink plenty of fresh fruit juices, yogurt and take multivitamins. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Many people experience an unpleasant tingling or itching sensation at the site of an imminent outbreak. This "prodrome" can occur a couple of days or even hours before redness or that first tiny blister appears. Prescription anti-viral medications for herpes work by interfering with viral replication, thereby slowing the replication rate of the virus and giving the immune system more of a chance to shut the virus down before it can cause problems.
