College Statistics: Telling You More About Colleges
People get back to college for two specific reasons
, either they cannot get enough of it, so they come for more, or they did not get enough of it, to start with, and they decide to get back and catch up with what they missed on.
The
college statistics show that postgraduate education is more famous among the students in Europe than the U.S. However, in general, most of the students tend to work on their postgraduate education for a better and steady career with higher salary, while others are just interested in a certain subject and want to know more about it. Some students fail to find any suitable job offer that complies with their goals, so they play it safe and start some postgraduate education. The Masters will buy them more time to reassess themselves, as well as more resources to lean on when searching for another job offer. Some students opt for acquiring a Master degree in a specific subject because the degree will further enable them to study another subject more professionally and profoundly.
For those who want to compensate for the missed college years, statistics showed that 47% of the students enrolling in colleges every year are over 25 years old. The percentage of students who ages more than 40 years old increased by 235% from 1970 to 1993.
Adults miss on college studies for reasons like a financial crisis, family problems or sometimes they just drop school for no specific reason. They, ultimately, sense the need for a degree in order to take up a better job or to start a more profitable career or even for a better social status.
However, the coming back is not always easy to adapt with. The adults coming back to complete their college studies are susceptible to a kind of shock, as they sometimes find themselves stuck on a middle ground; they are old but they are also college students. The shock resides in the idea that college is just for young people. Sometimes, the adult students expect themselves to fit in like any other student, but in that case, they always tend to get disappointed in the outcome, that they are not traditional regular students. Therefore, it is always recommended for the adult students to form a
student network between each other and the younger students, in order to keep the ties.
