Cologne: A Cathedral, The Three Museums and A Castle

Cologne was built by the Romans 2000 years ago

. It's the fourth largest city, having a multicultural environment. It's located on River Rhine with a lot of museums and galleries.

You should start your journey with The Cologne Cathedral which is being visited by 20000 people daily. It was hit 70 aerial bombs by Allied Forces during WW2 but still survived. In 996 it was added to UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The museum in Cologne which is worth visiting is the Wallraf-Richartz Museum, the oldest museum of Cologne containing great works of European arts. This museum is aided with audio and visual support , so, you should have no problem while strolling around the museum. Talking about museums, another museum to visit is the Ludwig museum, it has got the largest collection of paintings by Picasso. If you are in the mood of another museum, Imhoff Chocolate Museum is the museum to visit. It was built for 53 million Deutschmarks, here you will the visit the process of making chocolates. You will also get free chocolate wafers which are being dipped into a 3 meter high chocolate fountain.

Now for a change of taste, there is a castle located in Bruehl, 15 km from cologne. which one of the most beautiful castle garden of Germany can be visited.

Besides these you can see also Rathaus, Deutsches Sport & Olympia Museum and Roemisch-Germanisches Museum.

If you are lucky enough to be in Cologne during Christmas, than you have came to a city which is very famous for it's Christmas Markets through out the world. Usually there are seven Christmas markets but the one in front of Cathedral is the most famous one.
