Specifically for colored printouts, inkjets are always preferred for they deliver better quality, but its the more expensive inkjets that offer that quality. Another function to check before deciding to buy color printer is the dots per inch it is capable of. Higher the number, higher is the image quality. 600*600, the standard resolution is sufficient for most of the printing except for photos. Printing with a color laser printers costs less per page as compared to the inkjet, although the laser printers cartridge is more expensive. These related costs must be checked before we buying a color printer. It is more economical to spend a little higher for a printer once and use it for a longer period, say 4-5 years than spending annually for a new color printer.

Lastly, one must test the printer before actually buying it. Both text and photos should be printed and checked if the printer does both equally well. Close attention should be paid to sharpness of the text and images. Having paid heed to all of the above one can go ahead and make the decision and buy color printer online if required.
