Combating Sleep Apnoea
Sleep apnoea is a condition characterized by heavy snoring and less frequent characteristics
include sleep paralysis and subsequently insomnia when people develop a phobia of sleeping due to sleep paralysis. The most common type of sleep apnoea is known as obstructive sleep apnoea, i.e. OSA, and occurs when theres an obstruction in the pathway from the nose to your lungs, making is impossible for air to reach the lungs. During such a condition, the airflow can reduce tremendously making you feel uncomfortable and suffocated.
In order to combat OSA, the most commonly used method and the most successful one too till now has been the use of resmed cpap machines. Cpap stands for continuous positive airway pressure and is equipment as small as the size of a cell phone.Via this equipment, high pressure air is delivered to the lungs through the nose making it convenient for the patient to sleep without any breaks in between.
The significance of sleep is to deliver and replenish the oxygen content in the brain. The brain gets heated up throughout the day while we constantly work. As a result, there oxygen content keeps on decreasing, making it impossible for us to work any further. This is our signal for sleeping but if theres no oxygen being delivered to the brain even at the time of sleep, theres no point sleeping. In order to make sure that theres no obstruction to the passage of air to your lungs, you should use a cpap mask thats worn over the nose.
Here are certain tips that might help you combat sleep apnoea effectively:
Consult your family doctor: Our family doctor has seen us pass through every illness, so they know our bodily condition the best. It would be best to ask your doctor regarding the specific model of bipap machine that will best suit you. Since some machines have the capability of humidifying the air around, they might be helpful for people staying in certain temperate zones. Ask your doctor about the same.
Check the fitting: When these machines started years ago, there was a common size. However, there are various sizes available and you should buy depending on what fits you the best. You will often see a lot of people giving up their cpap machines just because theyre uncomfortable. However, the fact is that if you get a size that fits you best, you will not find it uncomfortable at all.
Evaluate: People usually get rid of their snoring once they start using a resmed cpap machine. However, if the symptoms start reappearing, you should give the machine for an upgrade or consult your doctor. Doctors might be able to assess your condition effectively and suggest the next course of action.
