After all the recent negativity, the CWG 2010 sprung to life with absolute glitterati at the opening ceremony

. Right from a 7-year-old Keshava playing the tabla with 100 percussionists to the crowd giving Pakistani contingent a rousing reception to Hariharan's unique Swagatham to Rahmania sweeping with Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto; it was an evening to remember for India. Welcome CWG 2010.

Keshava, a 7-year-old boy was the star of the grand opening ceremony of the CWG 2010. When he got to match beats with 100 percussionists and A R Rahman at the opening ceremony in Delhi, the world was clearly at India's feet. Keshava with 7000 others at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium showcased India to the world as the country began its feat of hosting its biggest ever event on a grand scale.

It was a big bang start to the Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi after a blockbuster opening ceremony, which was nothing short of an extravaganza. Back in Melbourne at the end of 2006, when India was handed over the rights as the next hosts, there was a huge bollywood-style blitzkrieg in Melbourne.Egypt,New zealand

When Suresh Kalmadi first came out to speak, there was mixed response from the stands. While Kalmadi was booed from the stands, when he mentioned the name of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit during his speech, the crowd received it with a massive applause. Kalmadi also made sure he thanked Sonia Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the same tone.

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh summed it up in just a few catchy one-liners ensuring every word he spoke left the participants with a pleasant feeling about the games. Manmohan said, " Welcome to India. India is a great country."

The onus was on President Pratibha Patil, who only a few days ago was reportedly upset at not being invited yet to the big event with sufficient notice and also with regards to confusions over inauguration. But, she put all that behind in extending the British Prince camaraderie on this very special occasion.

The special moment came from Prince Charles when he read out the message from the baton, that of Queen Elizabeth. The Queen said in her message, " It is particularly fitting that the 2010 Commonwealth Games are being held in India. I firmly believe that if countries can compete for sports, they can firmly come together for peace and togetherness. India will be an experience of a lifetime." Prince Charles later declared the games open.

President Pratibha Patil also preferred keeping her speech fairly simple. "Let me wish athletes success. India is a diverse nation with rich heritage and you will experience it. To my fellow Indians, let us showcase true hospitality that India has always shown," she said. And she ended saying, "let us begin the games."

more to come, cheeers :)
