Computer Games: Coming Attractions

Very few industries have seen as amazing and constant growth as the computer games industry

, which really came into its own in the 90s. With the amazing technologies becoming mainstream with every passing year, amazing new 3D worlds are constantly being created and the boundaries are constantly being pushed. Current games are a far cry from the 2D games of the 80s and early 90s and it has resulted in many players the world over spending countless hours behind computer screens. There have also been quite a number of new employment opportunities that have popped up as a result.

An interesting fact is that computer gaming software advances more rapidly than the technology for the systems on which the games are played. This is largely the result of many engineers in the gaming world taking their "art work" very seriously as they strive to produce their masterpiece. Sometimes an idea isn't possible until new technology arrives, and that happens faster and faster these days. So, with requirements for stronger computers, pushing for production of better, faster CPU's and GPU's is a never-ending task. But games aren't solely for the purpose of entertainment.

With all of the games being constantly developed it is good to see that there also a lot of new educational titles hitting the shelves. The educational games are a great teaching aid that helps in improving problem solving, maths and reading in children. It is actually a medium through which many children learn much more effectively than in the classroom. Many other gamers are however in it just for the entertainment. There are a many amazing titles out there that usually fall into one of four categories. These are Sports games, Real-Time Strategy, First-Person Shooter and Role-Playing Games.

The categories mentioned above are just a small summary of what you can play. There are many different genres and sub-categories within these. The games you will find out there vary so greatly and so do their requirements. It brings us to one of the major problems with computer games. If you want to play the newest and best games, you would often need new hardware to be able to play them effectively. As a result playing computer games can become a fairly expensive hobby. However those who love playing the games are willing to fork out the extra money to enable them to play these games.

Some of the most interesting advancements in gaming is happening with the presentation of the games. There have been some advancements in monitor technology specifically. Although visors are not a new concept, there are some new amazing versions of them in development. One more recent development is the incorporation of motion sensors in these visors. It means that if you turn your head for example the in-game camera will move where you look.
