Computer Recycling Ontario Should Be The Inititive
Although there is no depot where you can drop off your old computers and monitors Ontario has brought in different ways to do so
. If everyone just took the time to go and drop off their parts or find a way to bring them back to life it would minimize the mass amounts in the landfills. In Ontario there is a weekend dedicated to old computer parts and paint cans etc. It is a way for residents to dispose of parts properly and safely. Imagine if we can become a
Computer recycling Ontario.
There are alternatives out there for people that aren't sure how to go about getting rid of their pc junk. You can contact different companies. It depends on who made your computer. They will send you the information on how to send back the computer to them so they can dismantle it and use the parts for other computers or extra parts. You just have to pay the small cost for shipping back the tower to them.
Some people want a computer or could use the parts for their old broken computers. There are also students, they need a computer for research and reports. So there is always someone in need of a computer. Some schools don't accept work unless it is done on the computer.
You can sell the computer on a used selling site, put an ad in the paper, or even just give it to someone that you know. You can also sell it to someone that is looking for old computers because they have a business and need the parts.
One thing that I like to do is call up the local foundations around me and see if they take donations. Someone somewhere can always use a computer like I said. I usually send it off to the Diabetes Association. There are a lot of people out there that just can't afford a new computer.
The computer technology has changed so much over the years that it is hard to keep up and have an updated computer at all times. Not to mention the cost of just having the internet and a printer. They are definitely not cheap.
Maybe you have a friend that is in need of a computer. Perhaps if it is still running you can send it to the next person that could really use one. All it takes is one simple act of kindness.
When you go to the store to get your new computer why not ask. Perhaps the agent will know what you can do with your old computer. If they don't ask them to see if they know anyone in the store that can point you in the right direction. Maybe there is even a program to bring in your old one and get a discount on the new tower.
Your local municipality is just as worried about the landfills filling and about our environment as we are. There are programs in effect all over Ontario. Call them up and see if there is a program that you can go to to drop it off. Maybe there is even a tech school that could use the computer to learn how to fix and build them. The point is you don't know unless you ask and you cant ask unless you call them to see. There is always a answer if we could just start asking the questions.
