Considering Moving To Fuerteventura?

Deciding to move to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands can be a daunting thought

. Although you know once you are there life will be good it's the actual getting there with all your belongings that can be troublesome! The majority of people that move to Fuerteventura will come initially for three to six months to give them time to rent a place to live, invest in a home and either look into starting a business or try and get themselves some work. Once things are organised then it is time to look into bringing your belongings over and there a various ways this can be done.

Initially you will need to work out exactly what you are taking with you. If you have sold your home then you may well have a large quantity of personal goods along with furniture to bring over. If you have rented your house out then it may well be just personal belongings. If you are a pet owner then you will also need to look into how to bring your pet.

Bringing your goods over can be done in a couple of ways. If you have a lot of large goods, for example beds, sofas etc then a container will be the most cost effective option. If you have only a few cubic metres of belongings then a door to door service will be your better option. Air freight is also available but can work out relatively expensive in comparison to a van bringing your goods over. If you have new goods to bring in then it will not only be the transport costs to consider but also import tax so ensure you take this into account.

Contact a reputable transport company who will advise you on the best and cheapest way to bring your goods over. You will need to work out how many square metres you have to be able to obtain a quote for the transport. Based on the number of cubic metres you have the transport company will be able to get the best price.

Once you have made a decision on whether door to door transport or a container is best then it is time to get paperwork organised. Again the transport company will advise you of what is necessary and will also advise you on the best way to pack your goods to limit any breakages on the way!
