Content that must be seen on your website

Sticky Content is a term used for the content of a website that has the ability to draw and hold attention of the website's visitor, whether to lead immediately to other page in the website or to another website that holds the information that the visitor is searching for.

These can be broken down in to the following;

Text

Images

Videos

Music (Mp3)

Voice over or virtual assistance

These of course will vary from website to website, depending on the actual topic of the content and what the visitor is looking for.

Grabbing the attention of the visitor will lead to one of two things; higher conversions or a save, where the visitor will keep a record of your website and come back and view it in more detail at a later date.

Text should be relevant to the search term that the visitor has placed in the browser. It should be short and sweet and to the point with all key facts up front.

Images should be relevant to the search term or closely associated. Images can also be used as a form of suggestive selling or guidance. An image has the ability to lead your visitors to the desired web page far better than a small link in the middle of your text.

Videos do a similar thing to images accept guide. They can be a great way to enhance the visitor's trust in your website and your product and services.

It's not always a good idea to have videos on auto play. Think hard about the impact you want the video to have. If your video is vital to your conversions then auto play would be beneficial, if it's used solely to fill a space but with related content then give the visitor an option to click play or not. Some people really do not like content pushed in their face. I for one will always click away from a site that holds auto videos.

Music should be used with caution, unless your whole website is music related then what really is the point in having music on auto play when the visitor enters your website? It's always best to give your visitors a choice. Also remember that your choice of music may not be to the flavour of your visitors.

Voice over or a virtual assistant is an excellent way to grab attention. You can find some excellent companies who supply voice over packages or a virtual assistant for your website. In the matter of a couple of minutes these can convert very well. They are specifically designed to capture and lead by allowing the visitor to watch or listen. Your visitor will do this automatically. These can cost you a fair price, but it will be money well spent if it's created and used in a professional manner.

Using these features should be used for a purpose only and not just for the sake of it. If the feature is a "welcome to my website" voice over then it's pointless and it will not lead to anything more than just sitting on your web page and your money will be wasted.

All your sticky content should have the ability to grab the attention with in a period of 30 seconds. If the visitor has not be glued to your content at this point they will click away to view the next website.
