A receipt is a document that presents the legal acknowledgement of reception of any goods or articles by an individual or a group or an organization. If a person lets out his property in the market due to any reasons, a receipt is signed, which is called as the rent receipt. A receipt should follow the format prescribed by the local governing body, as this would avoid any kind of legal complications afterwards. There are two kinds of receipts, manual receipt which is hand written and the electronic receipt which is computerized.

A rent receipt format has following rows

The name of the person receiving the property and thereby the receipt.

The next detail asked for is the amount spent on the purchase made.

The owner's name comes in the third row.

The mode of payment of the money comes in the next row.

Finally, the last row demands the signature.

Usually, only the complete details of the tenant are asked. Whereas, detailed information of the owner can also be mentioned in this receipt.

Apart from the above mentioned general information, some receipt may contain information on the tenants residing in the house being sold. So as to make sure that no discrepancies arise in the future, the standard guidelines should be read and properly followed by both the parties.

In all the transactions involving sale and purchase of a property, it is important to take the signatures of the tenant or the buyer and the two parties should share the copies of this receipt.
