Cop Lights And Their Purposes

The illuminating mechanism of cops is so perfect that cops are more visible in well-lit streets than fireflies are in darkness

. They become so visible because of the right cop lights they use on their vehicles. Cop lights used in police vehicles are mostly brilliant light bars these days and will have blue, red, amber, and white lights necessary for different purposes.

Red lights obviously convey an emergency, and flashing red lights is like a command to other vehicles to move and give way. Blue cop lights function more as communication agents. Flashing blue lights may signify that help is at hand, or it may be a request to a vehicle to stop and pull over. Amber cop lights are used to help other vehicles. These are mostly used to tell other vehicles or pedestrians to be cautious. Some police vehicles use amber arrow sticks for traffic guidance.

All these lights are used by police to make themselves conspicuous, or to communicate to other vehicles. There is another set of cop lights that are used by policemen to highlight other things and make those objects conspicuous. The clarity requirements of cops are way ahead of the clarity requirements of ordinary mortals. So, cop lights are also designed to provide a very high degree of visibility for policemen.

Night patrol police need cop lights that should be strong enough to make things visible as perfectly at night as they are during daytime. This is an important requirement for crime detection and crime deterrence. Further, these visibility requirements may be different under different climatic conditions. Cop lights manufacturers are doing their best to cater to these needs and have come out with versatile models of police flashlights for multipurpose use.

The result is that many handheld cop lights that night police use has the facility to double as a floodlight, or a long distance light, or a light that can cut through fog. Modes can be switched on these cop lights, like the blinking of an eye, to convert them from a floodlight to fog light to the next. The arc of light that a flashlight produces can also be controlled to beam over a wider area or to be concentrated at one spot.

Very often, policemen have to make inquest reports standing in the dark cellars of a crime scene or during the middle of the night. His cop lights may then have to do the job of reading and writing lights. To satisfy this need, some lights come with pedestals on which they can be rested to be used as a table light. There are more advanced lights that incorporate camera facility, or audio or video recording facility. With cop lights that have video facility, all that the police have to do is switch on the mode and examine an object in detail. Everything that the police see will be video recorded for police use.

These are the already available features in cop lights. There are many more in the anvil and manufacturers are always open to suggestions from customers on how they can improve their existing models of cop lights.
