Corporate team building activities are meant to help your team work better together. They can be typically exciting problem-solving jobs that thethat your chosen employees can work as a team to solve.

Team building activities can take the form of anything from simplistic kid-style games to intricate multiple-day activities. They help stimulate your employees, improve communication between your staff members, and motivate your staff to do better throughout work and life.

Your employees will likely be more motivated to participate in a team building activity if you ask them to help design the exercise with you. Ask the employees what they would like to do for a corporate team building activity--perhaps they will want to spend the day away from work in a natural setting, or spend time developing one of their other passions and hobbies as a team building exercise.

Simple games may feel too "easy" for some, and patronizing to others, so as a manager, it is your job to acquire creative and solicit your employees' opinions on what type of corporate team building activity would be best for them.

Decide whether you would like to have everyone work together as a team (which will help foster bonding between your team members) or whether you desire to have your activity become more competitive--with two or more teams playing against the other. Some of your staff members may prefer one over the other. Solicit their opinions, and don't be afraid to make a competitive activity if that's what your team would like!

The "right" number of team members will vary in accordance with the exercise you've selected, so definitely experiment to find the best amount of people for each team.

Here are some tips to make your teambuilding exercises go well:

* Practice your activities yourself or with a small group of your staff first to make sure you supply needed supplies and materials and that everything goes as planned. If you created any new materials for your team building exercise, make sure those materials are effective, complete, and clearly defined.

* Keep available spare equipment, materials, and instructions in case you have other team members who would like to join in your activity, or if some of your team members would like to take some materials home. If providing instructions, ensure that every team member has a copy of the instructions.

* Consider creating theme or topic for your corporate team building events exercise. This will help make your staff have fond memories to your exercise. ("Remember the day when we all went out on a hike together?")

Above all, if your team has fun and bonds together, that's the most important part. Don't fret if things don't go perfectly, especially if this is your first time organizing an event for your staff. Take pleasure in the day you have "off" your regular job, and spend time bonding with your employees and staff members. If you are all closer together at the end of the day, your team building activity was a success!
