Correct golf grip – Get a grip

One of the most enjoyable fair-weather sports to take up is golf

, and before you get to the greens you'll need to know how to get started. Learning how to play golf begins with choosing the correct golf grip. Golf lessons for beginners starts with learning how to grip the club and once they have some expertise in driving they will need some golf chipping tips to help them get to the greens. These new golfers will then need to learn how to put the ball into the hole before moving on to the next green. If you are considering taking up this sport then you'll want to read the following information in this article.

Get a grip.

Gripping the club can be done with one of three different methods, and they are the ten fingers, the overlap or interlocks. The ten fingers hold means that when you approach the ball you will need to be standing strait and slightly bent over, while placing both your hands one above the other on the club. The ten finger method is when you place both of your hands on the club, one above the other while standing over the ball. You'll know you have it right if all of your fingers are lined up in a row. The interlock grip is the second method of holding your club. This grip is much the same way as the ten fingers grip except you will interlock your pinky finger with you index finger on the other hand, and this will provide better control of your swing. The third type of grip is called the overlap grip and means that you would place both of your hands together, and lock the pinky fingers together.

Hand grip and rotation.

The proper rotation and grip on the club is a very important step for the beginning golfer. If you are a right handed golfer, you will want to place your left hand on top of the right hand. Proper rotation of your hands can be gauged with your knuckles. When you look at your knuckles, they should be lined up in a row so that you only see the first knuckle on each hand. If you can see the other knuckles, you have rotated too far and will need to adjust them so they line up in a row. The proper grip can be measured by imagining you are gripping a tube of toothpaste without the cap on. When you are gripping the club, grip it just tight enough to keep that imaginary toothpaste from coming out of the tube.

Chip short shots.

The only difference between chipping the ball to the green and driving the ball down the fairway is the distance that the ball has to travel. You will hold the club the same way for both. However, many new golfers tend to "chip" short of the peg. Apprentice golfers should try to aim the chip shot past the peg until they are used to chipping the ball.

These golf lessons for beginners should help the apprentice golfer get started with the game of golf. The only thing they will have to practice on is the correct golf grip that will enable them to play well. You can begin practicing the golf chipping tips after you learn how to drive the golf ball down the fairways and continue to improve your game.
