Could More Sound Be What Is Needed To Cure Tinnitus?

When your ears feel like they are ready to expode with noise and nobody around you understands it can be pretty tough.

I am speaking about Tinnitus and I would like to take the time to tell you a little more about it. Tinnitus sufferers generally experience ringing in the ears. Tinnitus generally affects one in five people to a greater or lesser extent. The condition can be very frustrating and even painful for the sufferer. Tinnitus is regarded as a symptom of a deeper issue. An example would be an ear injury. Another could be hearing loss as a result of old age or even circulatory problems. These can all be causes of Tinnitus.

There are various treatments available, sound therapy is one that is known to alleviate the problem. There are basically two types of Tinnitus symptom. Subjective tinnitus is the most common and is a noise that only the patient can hear. This type is caused by issues with the ear, the inner, outer ear and middle ear. This can be because of a problem with the hearing nerves, or a problem with the portion of the brain that is directly linked to these nerves.

Objective Tinnitus is another form. This is far rarer than the subjective kind. It is usually caused by a problem in the blood vessels, the ear bone the inner ear or muscular problem. This is a form that can be heard by a physician during the examination of the affected area. There are various treatments that can be used. Removal of ear wax is a common first step to take. Many sufferers have a build-up of wax that can most certainly contribute to the problem. In many cases removing this will also remove the Tinnitus problem.

Sometimes medication can contribute to the condition and changing the form of medication can also correct the problem. Then there are hearing aids and also the use of white noise machine when the ears are treated with sound that can help normalise hearing for the rest of the time. Sometimes antidepressants are used to treat symptoms of Tinnitus. An alternative treatment is sound therapy. Sound therapy can be used to retrain the ear and basically help the patient by reducing stress levels. Helping them get the rest that they need when dealing with such a condition.

There is a difference between sound therapy and Tinnitus masking. Masking the symptoms only drowns out the noises. This provides the sufferer some relief from the ringing caused by the condition but will not cure it. Sound therapy seeks to hone in on the problem itself and create a permanent change in the brain of the recipient, seeking to heal the condition entirely. I have another article that talks at greater length about sound therapy. You are welcome to take a look.
