Many people fail at affiliate marketing simply because they failed to take the time to count the costs of affiliate marketing. This can cause them to give up as soon as things do not go as planned or as they had hoped. Before you start, you need to count the costs.

Putting in the Time

If you are serious about making money online, then you need to be willing to put in the time. This means that you will be working long hours for at least the first 6 months. This means that if you are working a full-time job somewhere that you will come home and work on your online business.

This also means that you will not be able to spend as much time with your family and friends. They may be out enjoying the weather, but you are stuck at your computer. This is a sacrifice that you have to make, and for many it is not easy, but I tell you, the rewards are well worth it.

Doing the Work

Not only will you have to put in the time, but you also need to do the work. You can spend your time getting educated, but this will not get the work done. Or you can sit at your computer brainstorming all day, but it still will not get the job done.

Don't get me wrong, both of those things are absolutely crucial that you do them, but you also must act upon them if you want to succeed. Every positive thought or plan that comes to your mind, is something that you must act upon.

Depending on what type of business you are in, you will have to do a lot of typing, or creating product and sales pages. Building your content for your site alone can take up to 6 months. Then when you are done creating content, you need to work 10 times as hard in marketing. You have to be willing to market until the cows come home if you want to make money online. The only other option that you have is to buy ads, but this can be costly to a new online business. Therefore you will have to do the work yourself.

Education

Education is an ongoing necessity if you want to stay on top in the online world. This means that you should spend at least an hour a day reading blogs, newsletters, or other sources of information that will help to keep you on top of things. If you do not stay on top of what is hot, you will not succeed.

Once your income is where you want it to be then you can begin to relax and let others do the work for you, so that you can spend more time doing the things that you love.
