Caffeine is, without at all overestimating its importance

, quite possibly one of the most crucial substances in the world. Without their morning fix of caffeine from organic rooibos tea, organic white tea, or an energy drink many people wouldn't be able to function and be productive members of society. People, often times without knowing it, can in fact get addicted to caffeine and heavy users sometimes suffer from symptoms of withdrawal without access to caffeine for a few days. Another renowned, and probably the most popular, caffeinated drink is coffee, which is grown in many different counties across the world. Many people don't care to look into where the coffee that they drink has come from, but it in fact can come from nearly anywhere.

Connoisseurs of the famous black beverage often say that the best coffee comes from Jamaica, surprisingly. Typically a nation known for Bob Marley, reggae music and calm, tranquil beaches they also in fact grow some great tasting coffee beans. The region best known for coffee in Jamaica is called the Blue Mountain region and the beans from this place can often cost up to what amounts thirty five dollars per pound in Japan and fifty nine dollars here in the United States. While that may seem outrageous, it is the price point for a reason and people with the money and prerequisite love of coffee have been paying up for this flavorful brew for years and will in the years to come.

Although they are famous the world over for their Carnival and domination of the rest of the World at soccer's World Cup, Brazil also exports excellent coffee of their own. As a matter of fact, statistics can back up the claim that Brazil is the largest producer of coffee in the entire world. Many of the beans from Brazil come from small farms, according to sources almost all of these plantations are smaller than ten hectares. Brazilian coffee, along with the basic rules of supply and demand, costs less than their counterparts in Jamaica because there is more of it, meaning that demand most likely will never be greater than the supply, preventing producers from charging the same high prices that Blue Mountain coffee can fetch on the free market.

Directly behind Brazil, winning the silver medal in terms of coffee production, is Colombia. The small South American nation gets a big advance in it's economy from the trade of coffee that it produces, needless to say in such a small country this bean is crucial to the lives of lots of Colombians. Furthermore, the country is fortunate in that it has trading ports in both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans to aid in production and shipping of their key cash crop. In fact, the crop is alleged to be so important to the nation; that all cars entering the country are sprayed with chemicals to kill any bacteria on them so that they won't hurt the coffee beans.

Although many fail to recognize its importance coffee is one of the most important and sought after crops in the world and can greatly affect the global economy.
