Creating A Jigsaw Puzzle By Using Microsoft Word

Instead of going down to your local retail shop and buy a jigsaw puzzle, why not make it yourself? It's fun and more affordable this way. You too can create a jigsaw puzzle by using Microsoft Word. You can do it by adding an image into a blank document and dividing that image into various shapes that will later on become the pieces to your puzzle. You have the possibility to make one from your favorite family pictures, movies, etc.

First of all, you must pick out the image which you will use for turning it into a jigsaw puzzle. Download this image from the Internet or create a digital copy on your PC. Next, open up Microsoft Word and start a new blank document. Select the "insert" tab from the tool bar located at the top of the screen. After that, click on "picture" and locate the file location of the image you have chosen previously. After you choose it, click "insert".

Now you must click on the boxes that are located around the perimeter of the image. Drag the boxes in order to resize the image, making it either smaller or larger so that it would fit onto the page. After that, it is no time to click on the "insert" tab from the tool bar and select "shapes". Under "basic shapes", choose the rectangle.

After completing this step, you must click & drag your mouse from the top left corner of the image to the bottom right corner. Release the mouse button to the place of the rectangle. Now, select "format" from the aforementioned tool bar and select "shape fill". Check the "no fill" option in order to make your rectangle act as a border for your puzzle. From the same tool bar, select "insert" and click on "shapes". Next, select the straight line located under the "line" heading. After that, click & hold the mouse button on any area that you want from the image. To create a short line, drag the mouse.

Now, return to the "shape" menu and select the straight line again. You need to add another line that must be connected to the one you drawn earlier. This will begin to create pieces for the jigsaw puzzle. You need to continue adding lines and creating shapes for the jigsaw puzzle. The more shapes you create, the more complex your puzzle will be. Once you're done, save & print the puzzle onto card stock paper.

Lastly, cut along the lines you drew in Microsoft Word in order to create the pieces for the puzzle. Now, try it and see if it is any good! If you follow the instructions above, you won't have any problems in making your very own jigsaw puzzle from your favorite pictures. It's both fun and economical, plus you will feel good about something that you did by yourself. Try it and we're sure that you won't regret it.

PS: For curved pieces, choose to draw freehand lines on your image when using Microsoft Word.
