Creating The Dream Shower

Showers are more than just functional these days and a trip to your local bathroom showroom will show you this

. Far from the basic functional showers of the 1970's there has been an explosion in showering technology and a good shower can add true saleable value to your home whether it be a new build or an existing house. Modern showers have much more style and functionality, in this article I will take a look at the advancements in showers over the last few decades.

Shower heads have evolved greatly, there is now a whole world of showering heads available on the market. No longer are they banished to being the white bland headsets. You can now get colour co-ordinated sets with multiple heads which can spray water of all sorts onto your body. Not to mention, there are new multi-jet spray heads which ensure that your complete body gets a soothing and refreshing shower. There are now even drenching plates that consist of a ceiling mounted fixed plate which literally allows the heavens to open up and completely drench you. This is by far and away my favourite type of shower, it's a complete luxury.

Obviously whatever you may choose will be price dependant and if you are just looking to sell then you do not really want to spend the earth. A rain shower head would probably be beyond budget on anything but a high end property renovation.

Why not add a seat to your shower? This could be anything from a simple fold down stool to a top end ceramic plinth - maybe even built for two. Think comfort and style and not just practicality.

It is not just the shower itself you must consider, there is also it's immediate surroundings - primarily the enclosure of the deflector. This is usually glass and can either be clear or frosted although in the European market they are predominantly clear toughened safety glass. Whilst trends swing you will always be safe with a chrome finished enclosure. In the mid nineties there was a move towards white framed enclosures but these have soon become dated looking and many people are now switching back to chrome. Doing it right the first time pays dividends in the long run.

A shower enclosure can fit into the tightest of places so you need not have a huge bathroom area to create your unique bathroom centre piece. There are many types of doors too, sliding, pivot and bi-fold to name but a few. The choice of door will very much be dependent on both budget, availability and also your own particular preference.

Take a look at galleries online and browse through design magazines to see which style and colour scheme will suit you or your potential buyer and you will easily be able to create the bathroom of your dreams.
