Crossing Items Off Your Im "to-do" List
When you work in Internet Marketing you need to be able to focus on whatever your
main goals are (making money, building trust with your audience, getting better leads) and actually put in some real work to make those goals happen. The purpose of this article is to give you a clear cut idea on how you too can build an effective to-do list to reach your objective.
List Things You're Not Supposed to Do: Listing all of the things that you are not supposed to do is a great twist on the to-do list that you are all used to seeing. How does that help you? It will help you focus first on what you need to get done and what you shouldn't do. To use one example, let's say that you are in the habit of checking your e-mail all the time; this can be a major distraction and keep you from finishing your to-do list. You can put a line in your to-do list that says, for example, "check email twice a day" and then cross the item off of your list at the end of the day if you have respected it. The real truth is that it's easy to let your focus get distracted by other things which can eat up your productivity and you need to minimize this as much as possible.
Be Realistic: When you are writing out your to-do list each day don't be unrealistic because when you include to many things on the list that you might not have time to accomplish, it can work against your enthusiasm and productivity. You really don't need to be constantly leaving your to-do list half finished and feel like you're setting up unrealistic expectations. This will move you away from your track and will make it more difficult to finish your to-do list. Your first step is to analyze the amount of work you have to do, then figure out how much of that you can realistically accomplish in your day and add only those items to your to-do list. This can also give you the clarity you need to continue moving forward because you'll have motivation from finishing your projects.
Each and every item that you cross off of your to-do list gets you closer to your primary goal and that, in and of itself is a big motivator.
Effective Preparation: Sometimes making your to-do list successful is all about doing the right level of preparation. When you've done enough prep you'll see that crossing items off of your to-do list is a lot easier because you'll know what you're doing. For instance, let's just say that on your list there is an item that says "write 5 articles." Doing the required research ahead of time for your articles will make actually completing them a lot easier. It sure does! Your battle is already won--if you do enough prep.
What is the most important thing, of course, is to understand the direction in which you are moving completely so that you know how to take real and consistent action and at the end of your day feel as if you have really accomplished something when you finish each task on your to-do list.
