Several years ago we lived in an apartment complex and our neighbors were a young couple and we would visit with them often
. They would travel quite often and the only types of vacations they would take were cruises. One time she and I were talking and I asked why they only took cruises. I asked her if she missed traveling on the road and going to amusement parks and other trips that most people did. She said that the only way she would ever travel is on a cruise line. She said that she didn't miss out on anything because it was either all on the ship or in the different ports that they traveled.
I remember thinking that there was no way I would ever get on a cruise ship. I was terrified of water, had no interest in being out in the middle of water with nothing in my control, didn't really want to be gone as long as they were on the cruise and I didn't want to go to other countries. I felt comfortable staying right in the states.
That was about ten years ago and I was standing strong that I would never go on a cruise. Then at Christmas time my dad called me and said that for our Christmas gift he was giving us an eight day cruise. He had to get back to the cruise lines agency in a couple of hours and let them know how many were going to go. We decided to go ahead and go with my family. In fact, everyone ended up being able to go in my family and there were forty of us on the cruise with a few extra friends.
We left the children behind and it was all adults. I have to say that I was nervous until I walked onto the ship and saw how big it was. It was like a city and it had so much on it. It was amazing and something does happen when you are out on the water. You really do relax and find so much enjoyment. There is so much to do on the ship and the ports are amazing.
Now that I have returned home I have to say that I am waiting for the day that we can call our cruise line agency and book the next one. I am sure that day will come again and I can't wait. Everyone needs to experience a cruise and you will never want to travel any other way again.
