If you take guests into your wine cellar, the door will be very important. You may want it to have your initials carved in the center of the heavy door. The door will be the first thing your guests see when they enter the cellar. That door will show what quality of wine you will serve your guests.

The proper insulation will be a necessity. Top, bottom, and sides of the door should be efficient to keep out moisture, wind, and weather in particular. If the steps to your cellar are just inside the door, the door should swing outward. If there is a slab in-side the door it may swing inward to allow you to be on level ground before descending down the stairs.

If your wine cellar door is on the interior of your home, there are different types of doors that will serve your purpose. Again it needs to be a sturdy insulated door, and you could also have it custom made to show that you are entering a special place. In the wine cellar you will want it to maintain the proper temperature and the entrance door will be the controller of that.

A lock on the door would control any unwanted visitors into the area such as children or their friends. Also to insure that the door does its duty to show the quality of the items within, the door could have designs or even fancy lettering declaring Wine Cooler Within.
