Cut-Tex® PRO: Cut resistant textile to protect those who serve

UK based body armour manufacturer PPSS have now developed a groundbreaking and ultra high cut resistant textile named Cut-Tex PRO

. In order to utilize this cut resistant textile for protective clothing, it needed to be tested to the BS EN 388:2003 blade cut resistance standard. The challenge was to verify independently the astonishing properties of this great new textile with independent, technical evidence, and to back up all claims the manufacturing company are making.

Samples of the Cut-Tex PRO textile was subsequently send to INTERTEK, one of the leading providers of quality and safety testing. The BS EN 388: 2003 6.2 Blade Cut Resistance test concluded that it had achieved the highest rating of level 5. It also reached level 5 when tested to the European and International Standard BS EN ISO 13997:1999, which is widely regarded as the more rigorous and professional standard for testing cut resistance.

Both results evidently demonstrated the hard to believe strength and cut resistant properties of Cut-Tex PRO, which is now being used to manufacture comfy, lightweight and specially made cut resistant clothing for police and prison officers, as well as paramedics and enforcement officers around the world.

Additional testing will be carried out shortly. Further samples of the Cut-Tex PRO textile will now be submitted to the BS EN 533:1997 test (Protective clothing - protection against heat and flame), aiming to make this great cut resistant textile even more helpful and useful to fire fighters.

Privately owned companies from a diversity of additional sectors have now expressed their strong interest in Cut-Tex PRO. Some of the leading glass handling and metal pressing companies are now able to see its great potential to protect factory workers from potential cuts and injuries, and haulage, truck and transportation companies have expressed an interest to use Cut-Tex PRO in order to line some of their trailer curtains, to stop illegal immigrants from cutting themselves a way into the trucks before crossing borders and entering countries. This has become an increasing problem for many privately owned transport companies, especially here in the UK.

Cut-Tex PRO will help to save human lives in the future; I don't think there is any doubt about that. People need to be educated and informed that such great cut resistant textile is available and how it can benefit the wearer. If frontline professionals would know how comfortable and concealable it is, then police officers, paramedics, social and health care workers, prison officers and housing or public sector enforcement officers would certainly show interest in this form of additional protection.

Professionals need to stop thinking that everything will be ok. Believing that nothing is ever going to go to happen, simply based on that fact that the past has been very kind to us and no one has been injured in OUR company or organisation yet, is certainly a very positive thing to do, but in many cases it is also unrealistic.

The prevention of injuries has to become our priority, rather than continuing with the habit of fixing things when they have gone wrong. Cut-Tex PRO has been developed with exactly this idea and thought process in mind.
