Pallet rack shelving is usually used by warehouses and distribution centres seeking a material handling storage aid system.

Pallet rack shelving was created to store products on pallets and the products are available in quite a few varieties.

'Back of rack' netting

A brand new pallet racking product labelled as an item that will "change the face of racking design" has been released in the UK.

Rack Nets' back of rack netting from Warehouse Partners works through getting attached to the back of single runs of pallet racking, thus building a safety buffer that will prevent loads stored within pallet bays from dropping into the aisles during distribution and unloading operations.

The benefit of this product is in its material netting. Normally, metal mesh guards are generally used to fulfil a very similar protective function. Having said that, metal guards can buckle or become misshaped if exposed to substantial force.

The netting is manufactured from high strength polypropylene and can be purchased in a range of colours which is strong enough to hold a 1000kg palletised shipment.

It will be fitted using a patented wire fixing solution, which the company has claimed was easy and simple to do.

Tim Judge, sales director of Warehouse Partners, said: "The impact of a palletised load against a metal mesh guard will often cause such damage to the guard that it has to be replaced.

"Apart from the obvious cost of replacing the guard, this can also mean that the racking aisle cannot be accessed while the repair work is undertaken - which causes significant and costly disruption within the warehouse."

The netting is made from high strength polypropylene and comes in a choice of colours and is strong enough to hold a 1000kg palletised load.

It is installed using a patented wire fixing solution, which the firm said was simple and straightforward to do.
