Cyber bullying is sending or posting harmful or cruel text or images using the internet or other digital communication devices

Cyber bullying involves the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group that is intended to harm others. Cyber bullying most commonly takes place on the Internet among students from a given school or neighborhood. According to the National Crime Prevention Center, over 40% of all teenagers with Internet access have reported being bullied online during the past year. Only 15% of parents are "in the know" about their kids' social networking habits, and how these behaviors can lead to cyber bullying. Cell phone cameras and digital cameras are a growing problem in the cyber bullying world. A recent survey found that 10% of 770 young people surveyed were made to feel "threatened, embarrassed or uncomfortable" by a photo taken of them using a cell-phone camera. Using web sites and blogs to post hurtful, embarrassing information about another individual. Warning signs that someone you know may be the victim of cyber bullying is: Displaying numerous negative feelings, including sadness, anger, frustration, reduced tolerance and worry, Grades beginning to decline, Lack of eating or sleeping.

Cyber bullying may seem humorous to some people, but it is a serious matter. Kids who are bullied online often feel hurt and rejected by their peers. This can lead to low self esteem and depression. Therefore, cyber bullying should not be tolerated and should be reported to authorities.
