DEWALT DW908 18-Volt NiCd Pivoting Head Cordless Flashlight, No Battery

I have used this flashlight for about one year and it has become alost the only flashlight I use. In Cabinets it illuminates the entire space, no fumbling to re-aim or balance or juggle. In crawl spaces you can set it up and work in a wide area without having to fool with the light, like a portable flood light. This and my LED headlight are all I need anymore. Great tool, and no worries about having fresh batteries!

This is the greatest fleshlight for work, because you can set the thing down and pivot the head to where you need light. It's like having someone hold it for you. It will withstand alot of abuse. It is very bright, for a relatively long time. The only thing that I can complain about is the price of the bulbs.

This is a cleverly designed and well built product which will make a valuable addition to your tool box, PROVIDED you already have a couple DeWalt or B&D 12v batteries (they are interchangeable). It would not make sense to buy a separate battery for it, as they cost about 2x as much as the light itself. These lights are also made for other voltages, including 9.6 and 14.4 v.

I compared this light to a 2-D cell Magnalite which weighs about the same (1.5 lbs w/battery.) As one would expect given the difference in voltage (12v vs. 3v), the DeWalt appeared to be several times as bright as the Magnalite and has a beam 3-4x as wide.

I only gave the light three stars because (1)It is overpriced, even w/ Amazon's discount (2) Replacement bulbs are also expensive, although they do include a spare, and (3) You cannot focus the beam - a wider "flood" beam would be preferable to the more intense spot for many applications.

If all you want is a general-purpose lantern, there are several 6v dry cell units available which represent better value. However, this one will utilize your existing batteries & charger, and with its solid base and tilting capability can be configured to illuminate the typical work site better than most of its competitors.

The DeWalt DW908 18-volt flashlight accepts DeWalt 18V batteries, either NiCd or Lithium ion. If you use DeWalt 18V cordless power tools and have 2 or more DeWalt 18V rechargable batteries, then this is a useful flashlight. Of course, it works like any rechargable flashlight and its pretty bright as you would expect for an 18V flashlight. The value of it is in helping manage battery life of the 18 volt Ni-Cd batteries - you can use the flashlight to FULLY discharge the battery before recharging, thus getting some use out of a battery that might be too weak to run your saw, but that can light up your flashlight for awhile. This helps prolong the life of the NiCd batteries. The flashlight has a swivel head and stores a spare bulb. I would give it 5 stars if the swivel head could be positioned in ANY angle up, down or sideways.

This flashlight is versatile and gives bright light and is lightweight to use. As you would expect from DEWALT, this flashlight is worth the purchase price of $29 that I paid for it on Amazon. Excelent work light or to have around the house.

Looked for this dewalt flashlight in local home improvement stores but only found it in a set with other dewalt products. If you have the charger from other products and only need the flashlight this is a great deal. Delivery was fast. No problems.

This is a wonderful bright flashlight that works with the batteries we already had for other 18 volt dewalt products. I highly recommend this light. We had a 9 volt flashlight we used for 15 years before the battery finally gave out so we replaced it with the 18 volt...more power...more light!

I just purchased this light today. Wow is it bright. I also have a Brinkman Q Beam Max Million rechargable 1,000,000 candlepower spot light that is cumbersome and weighs a ton, which I compared to the DeWalt DW908 this evening. I thought the Brinkman was really bright, but the DW908 is quite a bit brighter, and lights up a larger area. It's more like a floodlight than it is a flashlight. Also comes with storage for an extra bulb. Great product!
