If you dont fulfill your terms of service or scope of project like you say you will, more than likely the customer is going to go online and leave a review on your Merchant Circle account or just make a status update on Facebook or Twitter stating how bad a job you did. Or if you rocked their world guess what...that customer is going to broadcast to the world how wonderful you were to work with, how amazing your workmanship is and that everyone should use your product or services. Exciting isnt it?! If used correctly Social Media can help build long lasting relationships with your customers and rock your word!

So what happens when you do a great job, you fulfilled the terms of service and the customer makes a negative status update or online review? Do you leave it alone and ignore it? Do you fire back and take a stand? Actually, I would advise you to act in love and compassion. Just simply ask the customer how you can assist them into having a good experience. Or apologize and ask how can you assist them in solving their problem.


If you do this you are operating with integrity and people appreciate it. If you do fire back you are just fueling the bad situation and it is going to grow and become worse and worse. And we all know how fast news can spread with Social Media. There is no possible way to make sure that you only have positive reviews or feedback. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. You just have to monitor your online social media conversation and be involved in the conversation.

At the time of this writing, Facebook is the number one trafficked site, YouTube is the number two trafficked site and Google is the third most trafficked site. This tells us that more people are going online and asking their friends and families for recommendations. If your online presence is a negative one, good luck getting referrals. Social Media is the new word of mouth.

My tip to you is to be using Social Media Marketing to build relationships. Post information that is valuable to your customers. Dont over self promote. You should only be promoting your sales and company no more than 20% of the time. Use the remaining 80% of your posts to feed value to your customers and be personal. People always want to do business with people they like, know and trust. Its always been that way and always will be. So use Social Media to build true relationships. Serve the people and they will take care of you.
