Darlington's 2009 Citizen of the Year Joins ExtenZe Racing as Local Hero and Honorary Crew Chief for NASCAR Event at Darlington Raceway

Back in January when more Darlington Chamber of Commerce annual awards banquet, a local chiropractor and philanthropist by the name of Dr. David Eads was honored as 2009 Citizen of the Year in recognition of outstanding community service work. Therefore, EADS has been named as Extenze Local Hero" and will serve as Honorary Crew Chief for the top NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year and driver Kevin Conway Extenze Racing team in the upcoming Darlington Raceway NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend.

A native of Charleston, Eads moved to Darlington in 1976 when his father became principal of St Johns High School and has since become very familiar with generosity Darlington and needs over the years. Although born elsewhere Eads says there is nowhere else he prefers to live and work. Eads career had already done quite early in childhood as he grew up best friends with the son of a prominent local chiropractor by the name of Dr. Joe Willis and spent much time in the chiropractic office follows in the footsteps of his father's friend, observing his patients .

After graduating from Clemson, Eads joined practice Dr. Willis' at Darlington and then purchased the practice when Willis retired. Now entering the 21st year of alignment pain of friends and neighbors, or EADS, said spinal care business remained healthy, but the love of community service that keeps going.

EADS interest in charitable work has evolved organically arising from the participation of youth recreational sports leagues through his children. Over 12 years coaching rec league basketball and baseball, participating in various PTO's, boards, and school related activities, EADS is familiar with hundreds of local children and the challenges faced by families. He has also served on the Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and during his time as president urged greater involvement with local charities such as the Lord Cares Food Bank, and founded the annual giveaway Turkey Thanksgiving for Darlington square.

Besides the plan to keep the turkey giveaway going for as long as they can, Eads says he would like to see more youth oriented programs created especially those that provide guidance and a safe place for kids to hang out .

"When I heard that Dr. David Eads recently named the 2009 Citizen of the Year in Darlington was a no brainer for me to want to honor him as Extenze our local hero," said Kevin Conway, driver of No. 37 Extenze Racing Ford Fusion and leading Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate. "When we put the program with our local hero before the season began were the likes of Dr. Eads we had in our minds that will make this project a success.
