Darragh MacAnthony confident that two years of momentum will result in a massive upcoming season for Posh

The charismatic chairman, Darragh MacAnthony is adamant that Peterborough United

can challenge at the top end of the Championship and bring Premier League football to London Road.

Darragh MacAnthony believes the momentum from back-to-back promotions will prove to be a huge advantage for his young, vibrant side.

Darragh MacAnthony said: "We have something not a lot of teams have and that is two years of momentum and success achieved by players who have yet to reach their peak.

"I feel we will shock the football world and compete at the top end of the Championship this season. Our club has nothing to fear and hopefully we will play the same style of attacking football and let other teams worry about us and not worry about them," insists Darragh MacAnthony.

"It's going to be a massive season for all of us and an enjoyable one. Of course the league is full of the so-called big boys, but history tells us teams like Wigan, Reading, Hull and, of course, Burnley can buck the trend and get to the promised land.

"Fasten your seatbelts Posh fans as you ain't seen nothing yet from this team!" exclaims Darragh MacAnthony.

Darragh MacAnthony said: "We have at present 33 players at the club and probably one of the biggest squads in the Championship which needs to be addressed as most teams want to have about 19-22 players next season.

"I appreciate that I get a bit of flak for how we treat players that are transfer-listed, but let's not forget that they get paid to do a job pretty well and if they are deemed not good enough by the gaffer then it's time for them to move on as they have had their chance and didn't take it.

"The players all get paid bloody well so let's remember that sometimes in life tough decisions need to be made and the bigger picture needs to be looked at. If I was a transfer-listed player I would want to go and play football week in week out as soon as I could to prove a point and to get on with my career."
