I believe that your version of success is what makes you successful

. You may feel successful for maintaining the same job for the past ten years, or you may feel success after gaining the VP position at your law firm. Some women even feel success because they choose to be stay at home moms enjoying the opportunity to raise their children as a career. Whatever the case, you made your success; so dont apologize for it.

As a successful woman, you may have trouble finding quality men who are not intimidated by your career and lifestyle. Since men have natural alpha male characteristics, if may be hard for them to date women who make more money than them; are further in their career; or even one who has more assets. (Cars, houses, stock, etc) However, you shouldnt feel the need to disguise your success in order to get a date. Instead, you could simply be clear about the things you want out of a relationship.

Youve gotten this far in your success because you were clear about the goals and expectations that you have for your life. You need to be equally clear about the guy your are looking to attract as well. To do this, make a short list about the qualities that you would want your guy to have. When making this list, dont be afraid to include a salary range. While money expectations dont have to make your list, if this trait is important to you, you must include it. This way you will be able to date freely without resentment. While making your list remember to be realistic. For example, wanting to date a homeowner is good, but wanting to date a guy who owns 10 homes is not realistic. However, if you must have this type of guy, at lease be sure that you own 10 homes yourself.

Once you find your potential date, get to know him and allow him to get to know you. Just because youve got your eye on someone, doesnt mean that he has his eye on a woman like you. As successful women, you may have standards that he is not use to reaching. Allowing him to get to know you will save a lot of time for a busy woman like you. When he asks questions, make sure that you are honest. If you sense that he may not be comfortable with your lifestyle, follow your instincts. Remember that you feel happy and comfortable with your success, and you want your mate to feel the same.

Now that youve given him time to get to know the real you, allow him to spend time with you. If he likes your style and success, he will want to be apart of it. You dont have to invite him to board meetings or consult him before making decisions involving work. The only thing you have to do is allow him to spend time with you. Talk about what youre up to at work, but dont let your career dominate your conversations. Remember that he has a career as well and you should try to be equally interested in his endeavors. Men need to feel like they are the leaders in their relationships. If you show no interest, he will feel like he has nothing to offer you; and may even question your intentions instead of admitting his insecurities.

Being successful is a good thing and you should never have to apologize for your hard work. However, if you meet a guy who still has a ways to go, still acknowledge him as an equal. If he is okay with your level of success, thank him by supporting him in his endeavors. Be his personal cheerleader!
