There has been ongoing debate as to which language is the best to build a companys technical infrastructure. Python vs. PHP vs. Ruby is a battle that continues to plague companies chasing the latest and greatest in technology warfare. The language doesn't provide a rich syntax, but balances out with other benefits.

It is also true that Python is definitely easy to learn and easy to use, and can be used for a variety of applications. Adding new modules to Python isnt a problem and can be embedded into other applications from C/C++ and Java.

Below are a few reasons why Python is gaining popularity with programmers, especially in the fast growth of social networks.

Simpler to Read

If you know PHP then Python should be pretty simple to pick up. Even beginners can dive into Python with its easily understand the code. Programmers can become productive pretty quickly. Because Python uses indentations, its less likely to have bugs.

Support is worldwide

The Python community is growing by the hour. Its catching up with the PHP community especially with some of the new framesets coming out. For some of you that dont know, Python is free. As a result, the Python community has grown worldwide and is continuously finding ways to eliminate bugs.

Fast to Learn

It doesnt take much training to learn Python. There isnt eternal lines of jumbled code and its cost efficient to get programmers all on the same track. Some people that start into Python say it can be addictive because of the fast track learning curve. Its much easier today to program much more advanced object oriented code than it was a few years ago. Python makes it easy to interpret and can be used for both small and big projects.

Other languages require twice as many tasks, which can increase the cost of development and maintenance.

This is a key advantage. You can quickly change the high level layer of your application without changing the rules embedded in your modules. Python comes with an interactive interpreter for fast programming and team members working on the same project. Python is what they call a ready to run language. All you have to do is execute the code you have which is why programmers favor it over Perl. The interpreter allows you to import and then test critical functions before you write the function codes.

Reusability

Python allows you to use modules and packages thus making them reusable. The Standard Python Library already has a large set of built in modules that have already been developed. Breaking up your program into a variety of modules improves the functionality of your project but also provides fast resources for future code that can reuse these modules.

The largest search engine in the world, Google, uses Python. Its a great language for any level programmer and it looks like its going to be around for a long time.
