Dealing with Difficult Behavior

Difficult Behavior: No behavior is good or bad-it is just the way we take it-our

perception- we must put our selves in other person's shoe and see the other side of the coin. There are some people who are difficult to understand and create problem for us but there are some people who have difficulties and that is why we consider them a problem for us. We must differentiate between difficult people and people with difficulties.

Difficult behavior is the result of psychological needs for control, recognition and respect. Most conflicts are about needs that have not been satisfied.

Examples of Difficult Behavior:

Aggression

Disruptive Behavior

Disinterest / Boredom

Non-attention

Non-compliance

Personality conflicts

Difficult Behavior is:

Mostly accidental

Result of intentional thought

Takes us by surprise.

Dealing with Difficult Behavior:

Preparing our selves

Asking questions

Focusing on solutions

Avoiding confrontation

Being silent or un-responsive

Turning away from difficult people

Pretending that nothing happened

Replying with confidence

The more frequently you confront and handle difficult people, the easier it becomes. Theamount of time it takes to prepare for a confrontation decreases. You become strong and tough.

When you confront and handle everyone around you, people respect you for your courage, your honesty and your control. Your associates, employees or coworkers follow your example and become more productive. Your enemies either become harmless or become friends. Hold a position on your points. Use your solutions to their reactions.Continue describing your points and listening to the person's side.Do not give up. Communicate and persist for as long as it takes to reach your goal.Taking positive organized action, despite fear, is the kind of courage all successful people must have to succeed.
