Decided On An Accounting Degree? Where Can You Go?

There are over 800 degree courses in the whole of UK and there are many universities that hold them

. You need to decide which one is for you.

There are many different factors, which you need to think about before you make your decision on where to apply. Firstly you need to decide what you want to study. There are around 400 plain accountancy courses however you may want to do one that looks at another area or an additional one.

When you have decided what you want to learn you need to see where you want to go and this includes looking at which universities have the best accounting reputation.

There are many different ways to research the best accounting universities and there are a variety of league tables, which may give you different answers.

The Times 2009 have looked at the top 75 accounting universities. They have made this list by looking at the entry standards, which is defined by the number of UCAS points you need to get in. They have looked at the national student survey, seen the graduate prospectus and then given them a total score.

The top 5 universities for accounting are Edinburgh, Loughborough, Exeter, London School of Economics and Warwick. Their entry standards are as high as 464 and the lowest is 370. They all have student survey ratings of 78% plus and all come in between 97.9 and 100 in the total score.

The universities that are in the middle of the table are De Montfort with an overall score of 83.8 and Portsmouth with 80.6. However if you do not feel that you can achieve such high entry points you could look at Leeds Metropolitan university who come at the bottom of the table, although they have a rating of 64.7 and you will need only 257 points to get in.

You will need to decide how far you want to go away from home and also which area of the country you would like to study as the university experience is as much about the place you are in as the work you do.
