Delhi Rains: More Of A Menace Than Blessing
According to the sources Delhi faced the seasons heaviest downpour on Tuesday morning
which led to high amount of water logging and traffic jams in many parts of the national capital. Amidst such uncontrollable and unavoidable circumstances thousands of people were stuck for long hours on roads while commuting from different parts within Delhi. The city witnessed a large amount of water getting collected on the roads, preventing the vehicles from moving easily. The natives were a lot frustrated by the ongoing situation and did not have any alternative except than the waiting for the traffic jam to ease out. It has been reported that Delhi will witness more such showers in the coming days as the Metrological Department has forecasted more showers in the city. Delhi received 54.5 mm of rain till 8.30 am which was the highest amount of rain so far as reported by India Metrological Department (IMD) officials. Further reports from the metrological department state that the sky will generally remain cloudy along with some parts of the city witnessing spells of rain and some places are likely to witness heavy showers as well. In the wake of the ongoing rains the maximum and minimum temperature of the capital city is expectedly to remain around 31 and 26 degree Celsius respectively. Though the heat has been reduced in Delhi bringing the temperature down to 27.8 degrees Celsius but the rains have brought with them humidity that was recorded as 100 % and also a lot of chaos on the roads. Heavy showers drenched Delhiites leaving many of them stuck on roads as the traffic went hay ware due to a large amount of water logging .Large number of vehicles were seen wading through water in almost all parts of the city, some commuters were seen parking their vehicles at the nearest Metro station and they were reported to cover the distances by boarding the Metro trains to go to their desired destination. Traffic was badly affected due to the water logged roads and the ongoing rain.
Some of the places in Delhi which were under the worst influence of the rain were Ashram, Lajpat Nagar, Rail Bhavan near Parliament , Rafi Marg, Vikas Marg, Africa Avenue, GGR-PDR Road, Adhchini, Mayapuri Chowk, Naraina road, IP flyover, Kalindi Kunj, Malviya Nagar and Yusuf Sarai. Traffic jams were also seen at Patparganj flyover, Defence Colony flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai road, GTB road, Patel Chest to Daulat Ram College, Prahladpur, Keshav Chowk Railway Bridge, DND flyover, Maharani Bagh and Govindpuri.
