Delivery To Taiwan Is Available For Goods Of All Shapes And Sizes
The island of Taiwan, originally known as Formosa
, has emerged from the close control of China to become one of the world's foremost economies.
The country's rapid progress to becoming one of the world's biggest economies has been dubbed the 'Taiwan miracle', and has seen the country go from suffering hyper-inflation at the end of the Second World War, to being one of the four 'Asian tigers' which have been among the world's fastest-growing economies for the last quarter of a century. Indeed, apart from 2001, the country's economy has grown continuously every year for 75 years.
Since the worldwide economic downturn in 2007, while Taiwan's unemployment rate has risen to nearly six per cent, its economy has emerged from a short period of decline, and has now registered double-digit growth once again.
The driver for this is a big rise in international trade, of in the order of 40 per cent, but this is showing signs of moderating as the other major economies of the world experience a slow-down.
Taiwan is only the world's 139th largest country, with a population of 23.1 million. Yet its GDP (level of total output) is, as of 2011, the 20th biggest in the world. In contrast to the shrinking industrial capacity of all the biggest countries in the Western world, manufacturing contributes more than one-third of the total number of jobs in the country. The country's electronics industry is the envy of the world, while it is also a world leader in communications and IT products, chemicals, textiles and other consumer products.
Yet despite all its much-vaunted manufacturing capacity, Taiwan is also a big importer of goods, with electronic goods, machinery, metals, textiles, plastics, chemicals and medical instruments among the products which are most in demand.
Knowing that demand for goods in Taiwan is high, worldwide shipping companies have in recent years invested massive sums in new or enhanced services to the country, targeting the largest cities including Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung, and the largest of all, New Taipei.
It is therefore easy to send goods to Taiwan, notwithstanding the long distances over which they are often transported. Fierce competition for the growing business generated by the Taiwanese economy has led to individuals and businesses of all sizes being able to choose from a wide selection of well-known and reputable worldwide couriers.
And when staying competitive is vital for a business to be able to compete in a hard-fought market, it is always a big advantage to be able to call on many years' experience and huge resources to ensure that goods reach their destination on time.
