Determine Your Type Of Anxiety
So how do you get treated if you are diagnosed with anxiety disorder
? Well that would depend on a couple of things - first your age, the severity of your condition, and the type of anxiety disorder that you have. So do you know what type of anxiety disorder you have yet? Know it or not, there are many types of anxiety disorders and knowing which one you particularly have will make it easier when looking for the right treatments.
Based on what was mentioned above, you may have realized already that in order to get the best results, you'll have to get the specific treatment that is suitable for your particular condition. The question is, do you know what type of anxiety disorder do you want to treat? If you don't have any idea about it, then here are the types of anxiety disorders along with bits of information about each of them:
Panic Disorder: People who suffer from panic disorder are surged with an overwhelming amount of fear and anxiety that strikes suddenly and sometimes may even be repeatedly without any warning. Chest pains, hot and cold flashes, nausea, profuse sweating, generalized sense of doom, and difficulty in breathing, are just some of the symptoms associated with panic disorder.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD): People with OCD are often plagued with constant thoughts or fears that cause them to perform certain rituals or routines just to avoid the scenario that they have in their heads. The disturbing thoughts are generally called obsessions while the rituals that they undergo are called compulsions.
Post Traumatic Stress (PTS): this is a type of anxiety condition that can develop after a certain traumatic or horrifying event such as natural disaster, physical or sexual abuse, or sudden loss of a loved one has occurred. Sufferers have great fear and lasting memories about the event that happened. They may also become emotionally numb.
Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD): As the name suggests people with SAD are generally sad as they generally tend to limit their interactions with society out of fear that they might trigger an attack and appear weak, weird, or crazy.
Specific Phobias: People with specific phobias have an intense fear over a specific object, type of person or event. While there might be nothing wrong with fearing something, the problem is that people with specific phobias usually show levels of fear that are way too disproportional causing them to avoid common everyday situations in turn.
By knowing the particular anxiety disorder that you have, you will be able to find the right methods/persons that will be able to help you more easily. Treating anxiety disorder is not just a matter of picking something out and trying, although at times you might indeed be tempted to take this route, by all means resist if you want to avoid any unwanted circumstances or further worsening of your condition in the future.
