For authentic Italian cuisine, local gourmands have been flocking to Bacco Ristorante in Southfield since 2002. Customers sit at the cherry wood bar or cozy up in high-backed, romantic booths, enjoying food and wine under the gaze of the wine god Bacchus. The upscale restaurant's chic, contemporary ambiance and imaginative dishes have made it a favorite among diners and critics alike.
Bacco's history began when the Del Signore family immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1955, bringing with them a love for true Italian cuisine. They founded a small diner in Livonia, a Detroit suburb with a strong Italian subculture. With the opening of Bacco, they elevated the family tradition of excellence to a new level.
Dishes start with high-quality ingredients imported daily, like branzino (sea bass) from the Mediterranean and pasta from Abruzzo, Italy, which are served in simple yet stunning presentations. The constantly evolving menu features signature homemade pastas, Piemontese filet in gorgonzola sauce, and veal tenderloin with taleggio cheese. Bacco also offers a three-course vegan menu of Insalata di Farro (farro, organic baby beets, lemon oil vinaigrette and sesame lavash), Spaghetti al Pomodoro Fresco (with fresh organic tomato, olive oil and garlic) and Misto di Vegetali (oven-roasted rosemary potato, baked eggplant, grilled asparagus and tomato sauce).
