Develop Your Child's Life Skills With Music And Movement Class

We all want our child to develop the skills they need to communicate

. We also want them to be self confident and to exhibit at least some self control. One way to improve these skills is to enroll them in a music and movement class meant for children in their age group.

Their language skills will improve through all of the singing. Many songs include rhyming, imitating sounds, and identifying objects, which helps to build their language skills. Physical skills will also be improved through the movement portion of the class. They will improve their sense of timing, spatial awareness, and balance. Because they need to take turns and listen to others, their social skills will also get a boost.

Classes for 18 month to 3 year old children usually focus on these skills. They are usually small, with only about 10 or 12 children, and last about 45 minutes. Parents participate with their toddlers for shared learning and to build up bonding.

Children will get to try out the different instruments in the class to learn, explore, and differentiate the unique sounds different instruments make. This is a precursor to formal instrumental lessons at a later age. It also helps the children understand better, the melodies, rhythms, and beats that musical instruments make.

Classes also include other activities such as singing to improve their vocal skills. They will repeat words and phrases, and try to mimic the vocal inflection and rhythm that is used by the instructors.

In order to teach children early literacy skills, there is also story time. Kids will learn more about how language is used, and the meaning of different words and symbols. This will help them develop the skills they will need to learn to read both books and music.

Movement is a big part of these classes, with kids participating in circle games, group dances, and synchronized and expressive movement activities.

Finally, music and movement classes give parents some quality time with their kids, as well as useful information on activities they can do with their kids at home to improve their skills and build on what they learn in the class.
