The FDA has allowed Avandia to remain available on the market despite linking Rosiglitazone usage to more than 83,000 heart attacks between 1999 and 2007.

Avandia is associated with "an increased risk of stroke, heart failure, and all-cause mortality and an increased risk of the composite of AMI, stroke, heart failure, or all-cause mortality in patients 65 years or older."
