When someone mentions a tutu being a fashion trend, who is the first person we think of? Carrie Bradshaw! Tutus aren't just for ballerina's anymore! Of course she has the influence to turn such a simple, whimsical piece into a hot fashion item. Especially considering the show first aired thirteen years ago. For those of you thinking "Who is this Carrie Bradshaw woman? Should I know her?". Have you been under a rock? Well... let me take a minute to explain who this fashionista is! In June of 1998 HBO presented a new TV series, Sex and the city (SATC). The show focused on the main character, Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), and her three fashion obsessed friends (Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda) in their journeys to find a happily ever after. Oh and everything in between. Thanks to SATC, many new fashion trends have emerged. A few of these tends include wide brimmed hats, larger than life purses, big curly hair, and how can we forget the high dollar shoes. Carrie has the power to take a simple garment add flair, such as the perfect shoe and some bold jewelry and turn anything into a fashion trend (hence, the infamous tutu). Heck she even wore a blue feather headpiece to her wedding and looked amazing! During the forty five second opening credits of Sex and the city, Carrie appears to be wearing a tank top of some sort. As the camera pans out, we see her strutting her stuff down the very busy streets of New York City wearing... a tutu! Maybe a tutu is a little strange or bizarre for a grown woman to parade around New York wearing but if you know Carrie like her fans, this is right up her alley. Thanks to Carrie Bradshaw it is perfectly acceptable to wear a tight fitted shirt paired along with the tutu of your choice. What a perfect way to add some flare to your typical girls night out or whenever you want to stick out from the crowd (in a good way, of course!) Fashion stylists suggest nude legs and flats look best when paired with tutus. However if you are up for some fun throw on a pair of high heels, a long necklace and don't forget the Carrie Bradshaw confidence. If you aren't quite as confident this would be a perfect Halloween costume for the Carrie Bradshaw fan.
