Difference Between Laser Lipo And Vaser Lipo
With the many changes that have taken place in the field of liposuction and the many new procedures
, it's no wonder that terms such as Laser lipo and VASER lipo often get confused. To help eliminate the confusion, let's take a closer look at both Laser lipo and VASER lipo and the differences between these two common liposuction procedures.
How Laser Lipo and VASER Lipo Differ
Laser lipo, also known as SmartLipo, is a method of liposuction that utilises a small laser to melt fat cells. This laser is inserted into the skin through a tiny incision. The laser beam is then used to zap the fat cells, thereby melting them right on the spot. There is no need for general anesthesia when undergoing laser lipo. The laser is also effective in sealing off nearby blood vessels and tightening the skin overlying the area of treatment.
How Laser Lipo and VASER Lipo Are the Same
Both Laser Liposuction and VASER liposelection are able to be performed with the patient completely awake. Unlike older methods of liposuction, there is no need for general anesthesia or conscious sedation. All that is needed is a local anesthetic to numb the area of the skin where the incisions are made. As a result, the risks of undergoing these procedures are much less. Side effects and recovery time are also minimal, with patients often able to return to work in just a matter of days.
As you can see, Laser liposuction and VASER liposelection have their similarities in terms of decreased risks, side effects, and recovery time, but be assured they are two very different procedures. Which procedure you undergo depends on what area of your body needs to be treated and how much fat you have in the area.
VASER lipo is affordable. Because there is no need for general anesthesia, there is no need for an anesthesiologist or a need for an extended period of recovery in the postprocedure unit. Because of this, the cost of liposelection is usually cheaper than liposuction procedures that require the patient to be unconscious. This can equate into a patient savings of $1,000 and up.
As you can see, the VASER procedure has multiple benefits. However, it should never be viewed as a solution for weight loss. Liposelection is meant to reduce pockets of fat and sculpt the body in a way that dieting and exercising cannot. If you are significantly overweight, then VASER lipo may not be for you. In fact, many cosmetic surgeons who specialize in liposuction will not perform such procedures on patients who are not within a few pounds of their ideal weight. So be sure to discuss your options with a qualified cosmetic surgeon.
