Different Sleeves Showing Different Medieval Style
The medieval style here is a relation to the clothing style
. It is mainly the vintage dressing style in the medieval period. And in recent days there are more and more people wear in this style when they attend some theme parties. And I found a most prominent element in this kind of clothes. It is the sleeves. There are several kinds of sleeve patterns and I would love to illustrate one after another.
Sleeves are such an easy thing to play with, and yet they get so much attention. I had an old dress that the sleeves are so much tight. So I went to the tailor and ask for help. Then I got to know there are some other kinds of sleeves in this medieval style. The long trailing sleeves, bag sleeves, and dagged sleeves. The long training sleeves are the most applied sleeves in the medieval period. The people who lived in the medieval age were characterized by their conservation. People would not like to show their body parts to others. So the long trailing sleeves were prevailing at that time. People are not satisfied with limited kinds of clothing style, so there comes the other kinds of alternation on the detail such as the sleeves. The alternation of the sleeves was in the form of the bag. Such a kind of sleeves is not that long. And the bulging pattern makes the wearer much more full than before. There is a third kind of sleeves in the medieval style: the dagged sleeves. This one always draw admirers from all directions. This kind of sleeves is most appealing. Its pattern is unique and breaks the traditional way of sleeve style. The bottom of the sleeves is quiet large and there are big spaces left within the sleeves. Such a kind of sleeves shows the elegance and uniqueness to the viewers. And I am fond of this one too.
The other great thing about sleeves is, even if you have a small clothes budget, you can look great simply by splurging on fabric for the sleeves. It was not uncommon in the middle ages to have fine silk brocade sleeves, velvet sleeves, or sleeves worked heavily in embroidery and beading, and have the same attached to a somewhat plain dress.
The sleeves are the important element in the clothing field. Especially in the medieval style, the sleeves play a much more essential role to the dressing style. All above I mentioned is about the different sleeves applied in the medieval clothing style. Do you have a general idea about what it really is?
