Already being used in Europe, a new form of dermal injection is being now used to smooth fine lines and wrinkles on the face

. It was approved for use in the United States by the FDA in April of 2009, so it is relatively new to the US.

It contains the same active ingredient as the current popular dermal filler product. The current speculation is that this new dermal filler will be priced to compete with the older and already existing products in the market. And thus, it may offer a cheaper alternative with similar or identical results to those achieved with other popular ones. This will increase the competition in the cosmetic market to a great extent.

What Can Dermal Fillers / Injections Do For You?

These cosmetic injections utilize a method that was originally used to treat muscle spasms in patients in various parts of the body. When doctors noticed that these also seemed to decrease skin wrinkling, the substance began being used for aesthetic purposes and was eventually approved for cosmetic use to reduce frown lines.

Most injectables are also used to reduce or eliminate wrinkles on other parts of the face, including crow's feet and forehead creases. The injections are also used for shaping purposes; for example, to re-shape the arch of eyebrows.

However, in a recent double-blind study, researchers found that the new filler was more effective in dealing with pain in patients with cervical dystonia, a muscle spasm ailment associated with the spine. Although this study does not address the use of existing products for cosmetic purposes, it does shed some light on the promise of this new alternative, the competitor to the commonly-used dermal injectable. All treatments were determined to have a very low occurrence of adverse events associated with their use.

It is important to ensure that, if you do opt for injections, your treatment provider is aware of the dosage differences between the various drugs. Although most share the same active ingredient, dosage levels are different. Always consult with a trusted and certified professional before undergoing this or any type of procedure to ensure the best possible results.
