Dilpreet, the music maker

Dilpreet has come a long way from humming in the bathroom and singing on stage in school as well as college. He recently released his debut music album the numbers of which he has not only composed but also performed for.

Dilpreet, a folk-rock singer and lyricist is a software engineer. This resident of Noida can bring forth a wide variety of moods and emotions through his songs with ease.

Dilpreet has certainly hit the right notes with his maiden album named 22 No Faatak. The collection features 9 tracks written, composed and performed by Dilpreet. Leslie Lewis of Colonial Cousins has done the music arrangements on the album and Ashish Manchanda, the man behind the sound of movies like Dev D, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Om Shanti Om, has engineered and mastered the tracks.

Explains Dilpreet, "The album also features a track in collaboration with six times Grammy winning producer, Ken Lewis who has worked with me on the pre-production phase of the song Main Pyaar Kar Challi Aan."

He adds, "Moreover, one of the songs, Ajj Akhaan Waris Shah Nuis a tribute to legendary Punjabi poetess, Amrita Pritam. It is the first time one of her poems has been done in rock." With music flowing in his veins, Dilpreet has been making music and writing lyrics for many years. And his teacher mother and banker father have motivated and encouraged him all the way goading him to reach the top of the charts. "And reach I will,'' he smiles. He continues, "Through my music I want to touch people's hearts, make them see the reality around them, and make them do something to change the world."

Revealing a self that is passionate, dedicated, and determined, he says, "Singing is a passion for me and I sing from the innermost core of my heart."

And what type of music does he favour? "I am keen on all kinds of music," he shares. He loves to experiment with all kind of sounds, from Punjabi/Hindi Rock n' Roll to acoustic ballads to folk rock melodies.

Currently he is also learning Hindustani classical. And his appetite to use different musical styles and experiment with different genres of music is certainly standing him in good stead.
