Do All College Students Graduate?

According to a study 40% of the students who enter college to get a college degree

do part time jobs as they are financially not that strong and to support their day to day expenses they are required to do such jobs. Seeing the level of difficulty of curriculums especially colleges and universities it is of no surprise to know that many of these students who are also doing part time jobs, never graduate. All the efforts of entering into a college, the hassle of getting students loan, the sleepless nights to get good grades and all that efforts go in vain.

There is no doubt a serious need to review this issue. These students do not have any future and are caught in the vicious circle of earning and feeding their stomach. For them living a decent life an enjoying the luxuries of the life are just dream; a dream to which they were this close but due to their limitations they were unable to achieve that.

The question arises, that if the these students are able to enter colleges despite the strict rules then this means that they have the ability and they surely do deserve to study in college, but then why it is that 40% of them each year which makes it nearly half of the batch, are not able to make it to the end? Who is to be blamed? The government has provided the relaxation to students in the form of students loan that they are suppose to repay after they have graduate and entered the professional world. But the question is, is it really the solution?

Many times students are unable to perform well because they are pressurized for studying on loan. They idea that they have to perform well in order to repay the loan disturbs them and affect their performance. Then we also have to see the curriculum, can we say that colleges have the right way of testing students learning?

Well, no, sometimes we are getting the feeling that due to the increasing competition among the institutions and in the war of being number 1, colleges are producing studying robots not professionals. For instance I have seen many time students complaining about research proposal; this is the prerequisite of detail research they are required to do. The question that is raised more frequently is that what is the connection of research proposal with their careers? How is it going to benefit them? Why they should invest so much time and effort in it when they do not need those skills in their professional life? These are the questions that need to be addressed.

The academic institutions should consider this issue more carefully and design the curriculum accordingly. Also the students are required to give research proposal presentations, and this is considered to be more hectic than research itself.
