Do Companies Really Do Graduate Recruitment?

Most of the major companies and larger corporations do graduate recruitment exercises

so that they have a constant supply of young innovative minds to fill the work positions they need to fill. The larger companies do the graduate recruitment because they do not want the brightest minds to find lucrative employment with other firms. If they find someone they see enormous potential in the manager will create a position so they can hire them rather than lose them to the competition.

Graduate recruitment may be done by the company employees and then again they may hire outside firms to do the leg work for them. These outside firms will screen the applicants and try and determine the very best of the candidates from those that apply and then they will set up final interviews for these candidates with the human resources departments at the places of employment. When the applicant arrives at the interview the interviewer is already well aware of their educational background and their work experience history because the firm they hired will have faxed all of the pertinent information on to the manager for review before the appointment.

This system allows the company the luxury of seeing what is available in the way of fine new employees and it allows the students to see what is available in the way of career opportunities. It is not uncommon for a graduate recruitment to include a sign on package offer like the ones you hear about sports players being offered. Of course these offers will not be for millions of dollars or for new sports cars like the athletes are offered but they will include nice salaries, benefits packages that include profit sharing opportunities, healthcare, vacation packages and the opportunity for advancement within the corporation. These packages are said to sweeten the deal and make one employer look like a better choice than another one does.

This practice makes the students that are attending courses to learn trades and skills try their best to be in the top ten percent of their class so they will be some of the first ones considered when a graduate recruitment is done by the company they would most like to work for.

Another way that the students make certain they are considered in these types of recruiting calls is to sign up at some of the employment agencies so when the company hires the agency the student already has a resume on file and the agencies always start looking at the resumes they have on file before they try to get more people to apply. This practice of already having a foot in the door will allow the person to get the best opportunities offered to them.

Getting a job and starting your career is actually one of the most difficult things that you do in your life. You have to choose wisely what type of work you will do and you have to choose wisely about where you will do that work.
