Do Hypnosis Downloads Work?

What is a hypnosis download? These are recordings that have been made by hypnotists

or therapists that have usually been stored in MP3 format and can be downloaded from their website ready to be played on pocket mp3 players or iPods etc.

Typically, they have 3 aspects; a relaxing introduction to get you relaxed and 'hypnotized' a middle section where suggestions are given to make the appropriate changes you are looking for, and finally, a wake up section at the end with further suggestions about taking more action in your life.

Hypnotic recordings work by distracting your conscious thinking mind and allowing access to the more animal like, emotional unconscious mind where many of our deep seated beliefs about ourselves reside.

Through hypnosis the hypnotist relaxes the individual's conscious mind which seems to cause it to 'let its guard down' which allows access to the unconscious mind.

Now the subconscious is listening the hypnotist can begin to deliver powerful suggestions for change and personal growth.

I often refer to our unconscious mind as the 'animal child within us' it applies concepts and rules that try to keep us safe, rules that apply more to the animal world, and strategies that are somewhat childlike in their application.

The strategies we adopted to keep us safe as a child may have made sense back then, however, are really inappropriate for us in the lives we lead as an adult.

By accessing the unconscious and delivering new information and examples of more appropriate responses through storytelling and metaphor the unconscious seems to say 'that's a bit like me. Perhaps I could do that too....' And change often follows.

Once your unconscious can see that there is many strategies that can be used more flexibility in emotional responses and behaviour become possible.

Occasionally some hypnotherapists will make some free hypnosis downloads available or you can expect to pay around 10 for a hypnotic mp3 download. Quality does vary, so, where possible see if you can listen to section of the audio prior to purchase.

Hypnotic downloads will never replace face to face therapy, yet they do help the individual to see their problems in a new light and tend to loosen up stubborn out-dated beliefs, they are a good option for those who find the cost of therapy prohibitive. Take care choosing, there are good ones and bad ones out there, when you hear a good one, you'll just know.
