Do I need TRAFFIC and how can I get it?
How many times have you asked this question?
In the beginning I asked this same question countless amount of times, hoping that by some strange way I would not have to worry about it. I thought if you had a website people just visited your site and bought your products and you made loads of money, ha!!! Not true you need to inform people of your website.
O.K lets start, traffic is the amount of times that your website is viewed by people on the World Wide Web. This is what you built you website for.
Let us look at some of the reasons why you are not getting these highly prized views. (TRAFFIC) There is that word again!
If your Web site is not getting the traffic it should, it is likely,
that it is not ranked well on the major Internet search engines.
E.g. Google, Yahoo, AltaVista to name just three, there are more.
According to recent Internet E-commerce studies, over 90% of your potential customers find the Web sites they visit by using search engines.
If your website is not located in the Top-30 listings of these engines, chances are your site will never be seen.
The single most important thing you can do to increase your Web site's traffic is to increase your search engine ranking.
THE BASICS: HOW SEARCH ENGINES RANK YOUR SITE.
These are just the basics of getting into the search engines. And if your site contains only a squeeze/landing page then the chances of you getting a high ranking are I am afraid low. Google in particular do not like these types of pages even though they are a common type of site.
When you submit your website to a search engine to be indexed in its database, it sends a "robot" to scan your page.
Using complex algorithms to rank your page for keyword relevance, the "robot" determines whether you'll be ranked number
1 or 1,000,000 when potential visitors conduct a search looking for sites like yours.
Because the search engines are constantly changing their algorithms to provide users with the best possible search results, there's only one true solution to high search engine placement--your work and time input.
In short, submission alone is not enough. Good search engine ranking is critical to your site's success.
Right what can we do?
E-Mails: Develop a mini signature on the bottom of your outgoing e-mails which includes your website. Depending on how many e-mails you send this is as good as advertising, the possibility of your recipients forwarding your e-mail to their friends with your signature, also increases your exposure, therefore reaching more people, some will click on the signature and go to your site. FREE ADVERTISING.
Forums: Visit and join forums in your niche, post constructive comments on the forum, signature there again for people to click on.
Articles: Write an article on what your particular subject is, submit to various publishing sites like ezinearticles, goarticles, Articlesbase, etc. These sites will allow you again to have your link at the bottom, hey!! More free stuff. Help with article writing can be found in lots of places on the web including this site Ezine Articles also another good information site is Go Articles and Articlesbase, these can be aimed at the newcomer and are written and explained in everyday language.
Exchange Links: You can exchange links with other sites who have the same target audience as you, but who are not in direct competition with you.
Blogs: Find blogs in the same market area as you, post comments on their posts, (not poor or bad comments these will just get deleted.). Just make sure your feed back is useful, so it's not seen as spamming. (I hate this don't you?).
All this takes time but not money, lots of time I am afraid but if you think you will have successful money making system overnight then you will be disappointed.
All these actions will build your TRAFFIC but not overnight.
There is loads more information out there on the net, just be careful do not pay for anything unless you are absolute sure you will benefit from it.
