Do We Really Need Nanny Cameras?

Hidden cameras raise a very delicate moral and ethical question among people and

everyone agrees that their usage should be prohibited to a certain degree. We are often afraid of government spying on us and monitoring our moves, but what about our own need to keep an eye out on our own property? A hidden camera can be used to monitor your car at night to watch out for vandalism of attempts of theft. A special type of hidden cameras called the nanny cams can also be used to monitor on your house staff, particularly your babysitter or nanny. Outdoor hidden cameras can be placed in your yard to record any suspicious activity that goes on, especially during the night. In this sense, it is perfectly justifiable to own a hidden camera and to use it to monitor your belongings, home or the security of your children while they are being taken care of by a babysitter.

How do hidden cameras work?

Different cameras use different methods and the technology that is used depends greatly on their purpose and shape. Usually, hidden cameras are small devices placed inside of ordinary house objects. Examples would be clocks, radios, lamps, DVD players, teddy bears, books and so on. Just about anything can be a hidden camera and you are bound to find the design that you need if you look hard enough.

Each camera records onto itself nowadays and it stores the data on a hidden micro SD card that you can later pull out and plug into the computer in order to view the files. Each camera has sensors that only activate the cameras recording once they realize that somebody is in the room. While nobody is present the camera will be in standby mode and will not waste any power. The hidden camera will become aware of someones presence either by using a motion sensor technology or by using thermal sensors that detect body heat. This of course depends on the manufacturer of the device as well as on the purpose of the hidden camera itself.

Indoor, nanny cameras often use thermal sensors and they have a great range. You can also turn the camera on via the included IR remotes and program it to continually film during a certain time frame. When it comes to special outdoor cameras, their sensors usually have a much wider and longer range. These cameras also sport a dual lens which allows them to capture great video even in low light conditions which is quite ideal.

In conclusion, hidden cameras are very effective devices and in many scenarios there is no reason why we shouldnt have the right to use them. However, before you make a purchase and buy a hidden camera for your home, you should check with your states laws to make sure that the manner in which you plan to use your camera is morally justified and legal. Generally, if a hidden camera is meant to be used for home security and surveillance, there should be no legal barrier to keep you away from this.
