Do You Have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpel tunnel symptoms may become more advanced little by little over time
. One of the first indicators of this condition is a slight pain in your hands or wrist. You should pay close attention to any feelings of numbness in the hands, burning or tingling in the fingers especially the thumb, middle and index finger. This burning and tingling may even cause total numbness to the hand. A lot of people complain of symptoms occurring more at night but as the condition worsens it is quite possible to experience the burning and tingling all day.
When you're sleeping sometimes your wrist is in an unnatural position and this can also cause pain and numbness. The reason symptoms are worse at night may be related to the flexed-wrist sleeping position and/or fluid accumulating around the wrist and hand while lying flat. You may even try shaking your hands and changing position in order to get some relief. As time goes on the pain may get worse and worse and become more intense and severe.
Your symptoms may become worse when trying to do simple everyday things like holding a pen, a fork when eating, typing at work, driving, or even holding a phone. The longer you go without treatment the worse the condition will become and it will be quite difficult to perform simple everyday tasks. It will start to have a negative impact on your daily life and you will start to experience even more pain in your arm.
There are more signs of carpal tunnel syndrome that you need to be aware of. If you are losing your grip strength and find yourself dropping things more often than usual, or if you're fumbling things frequently. Your fingers may feel swollen and numb even though when you look at them they are not swollen at all. You may find it more and more difficult to make a fist and perform simple manual tasks. Hot and cold sensations may become increasingly difficult for you to differentiate by touch.
